Winamp for Android: Play Queue Tutorial

A play queue is a temporary track or song listing that allows you to easily select and sort tracks. For those already familiar with the Winamp application for your PC, the "Playlist Editor" is a play queue. In the Winamp for Android app you can access the play queue from the Player Controls at the bottom of the screen (it's the button on the left).

Creating a Play Queue
In Winamp for Android, from the Album view, "tapping" on a single Song clears the current play queue and repopulates it with all the songsfrom that specific Album. Playback will start at the particular song you selected.

The same is true if you tap on a single song from a playlist. The current play queue is cleared and is repopulated with the entire playlist and playback will start at the particular song you selected.

Building on Top of an Existing Play Queue
To add songs to an existing play queue, rather than replacing the play queue, you'll need long hold on your selection, instead of simply tapping. So, to only add a single song to an existing play queue, press and hold on that song. From the pop-up menu, select "Enqueue". This will add the selected song to the bottom of the current play queue.

If you long hold on an Album --> you'll add the entire Album to the end of the play queue.
If you long hold on an Artist --> you'll add all Songs from that Artist to the end of the play queue
If you long hold on a Playlist --> you'll add all Songs from the Playlist to the end of the play queue

Note: From the Home screen, if you select "Songs" and then "tap" on a single Song (not long hold) --> you'll add ever song in your library to the play queue.

Clearing a Play Queue
To manually clear a play queue - from the play queue screen, select the Menu button (hard button) >> Clear Play Queue.

Changing the Sort Order of a Play Queue
The grips to the left of the song listing allows you to change the sort order. You can rearrange the sort ordering by simply dragging each song to it's desired location. In the below example, I'm moving song 6 to the 3rd position in the play queue.

Saving Your Play Queue
As a reminder, a play queue and a play list are different. A play queue is temporary, so If you've curated one that you like, you can save it as a playlist. From the play queue screen, select the Menu button (hard button) >> Save as Playlist.
