Winamp is making a change to the search experience across all Winamp products (Winamp toolbar, Winamp client search and default Winamp search), with a new localized search functionality. The localized search will allow you, the Winanp web search user, to get better targeted search results based on your local (i.e. your country of residence and language). This search experience will be powered by AOL Search and will no longer be branded Winamp Search.
In addition to localized search, Winamp will use AOL Search to provide more relevant search results enhanced by Google, auto-fill to provide faster search experiences and a cleaner design to help you find the desired search result more quickly. Although our web search product is no longer branded Winamp, proceeds from our new integration with AOL Search enhanced by Google, directly benefit the Winamp team and allow us to invest in new features and innovation. Stay tuned to the blog post, as we have a lot of great things planned for this year for both the Winamp Media Player and Winamp for Android.
The changes to Winamp search will be rolled out over the next several weeks and are already live for the U.S., France and Germany. Winamp is proud of it's diverse and global user base and this is the first in a series of releases to better serve our audience based on where you live.
